Following updates to state legislation, petrochemical facilities across Thailand must ensure blast defensive requirements are met with all new installations of doors within their facilities.

Automated Blast Doors
Petrochemical Asset Owner
PTTOMP is a Thai based petrochemical owner. Looking to upgrade the safety of their site in line with legislation, they commissioned MM Engineering to provide a bespoke solution.
Establishing blast defence within a high-traffic, multi-user environment requires careful consideration. Establishing site safety, whilst also maintaining secure access to petrochemical facilities required a different approach to standard blast door installations.
Drawing on experience with automated hydraulic flood schemes within the public domain, equipped our in-house designers to guide the client to a bespoke design that brought together an automated access solution that harnessed electronic motors over hydraulic to maintain security and safety, combined with the protection of a C15 tested blast door.
Working closely with leading component suppliers, Geze and Surelock McGill, we designed a PAC card operated access solution to create an automated access system, fully tested in our UK manufacturing facility before shipment.
Safety in this instance was paramount. An automated blast door in a high traffic area without adequate safety features could prove fatal. We integrated Infrared safety beams into our design to ensure the maximum safety for the day to day end user. By opting for electric motor solutions over hydraulic options, we reduced the strength of the closing mechanism whilst maintaining security.
Following rigorous UK testing at our South Wales manufacturing site, components were shipped to Thailand for installation. Our engineering team remotely supported an established install partner within Thailand to complete the installation, in line with MM Engineering standards.
